Expert Talk on: Insights, Concepts, and Tools - Data Analytics withR Programming

The Department of Computer Science and Engineering organised an expert talk on “Insights, Concepts and Tools: Data Analytics with R Programming” on 5 November 2025. The session began with a warm welcome to the guest speaker, Dr. Shiju George, Associate Professor in the Department of AI, ML & DS at Christ University, SoET, Kengeri Campus, Bengaluru. Dr. George introduced the theme by emphasising the significance of R programming in data analytics and statistical computing.

Dr. George elaborated on both foundational and advanced aspects of R, highlighting its effectiveness in real-world data analysis. The session was designed to offer students hands-on experience in applying R to practical scenarios. To encourage collaborative learning,
Dr. George formed student groups and assigned scenario-based tasks for execution in the laboratory. Students actively participated in solving data problems using R, gaining valuable insights into data manipulation, visualisation, and interpretation.

The interactive approach promoted teamwork and critical thinking. Dr. George also discussed the interdisciplinary applications of data analytics in both academia and industry. Towards the conclusion, he shared research problem statements to inspire further exploration among students and faculty members. The session successfully bridged theoretical understanding with practical implementation, enhancing participants’ grasp of data analytics tools and techniques.

The event served as a valuable platform for experiential learning and academic enrichment. Overall, the expert talk was well-received and contributed significantly to the students’ skill development in data analytics.
